Welcome to kindergarten! We are readers, writers, thinkers, and problem solvers. Our classroom is a busy place filled with energetic kiddos who love to learn.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds with a variety of needs.
Some students come to school on the first day equipped with experiences and knowledge that set them up for success in kindergarten; others do not. It is my job to provide experiences and opportunities for all students to feel and be successful. Our school motto is "Be Awesome," and my students prove their awesomeness every day!
My Project
As an educator, I firmly believe that learning is a lifelong process; therefore, I am constantly on a quest for learning the newest best practices in education. Literacy resources such as It's All About the Books and Smarter Charts K-2 will increase my knowledge about teaching reading and writing in my kindergarten classroom. Books about growth mindset will provide me with a better understanding of what growth mindset is and how to effectively promote it within my classroom. Choice Time and Loose Parts will give me information about providing developmentally appropriate inquiry-based, guided play in my classroom to encourage a more engaged setting.
The knowledge I gain from these professional books will have a HUGE impact on my teaching, our classroom community, and my students' abilities as readers, writers, thinkers, and problem solvers!
I have been a teacher for 15 years, and I'm excited to increase my knowledge about best practices in literacy, mindfulness, and student engagement. As the expectations for kindergarteners continue to rise, I will be prepared and empowered to be a more effective educator through the knowledge I gain from reading these professional resources!
