I am a resource teacher of kids ranging from kindergarten to 4th grade. My students have a variety of different learning disabilities. Several of them are ADHD, as well as autistic. Some of my students require social and emotional help, while others need help with their fine motor skills. While I don't serve all 32 students at one time, we do have several small groups throughout the day.
My class is unique in the fact that some come from a military background where they move around, while others have never left the county we live in.
Our school is very diverse, and at any given time in the year, several students may be experiencing a deployment of a parent, or something going on in their home life. Being able to help these students from such diverse backgrounds is an honor.
My Project
These resources will come in handy for students of all ages. Not only for our primary grades, but also students in 3rd and 4th grade. While some know how to read, most of my students rely heavily on sight word recognition.
I hope by incorporating Letterland into my lessons that I can give my students the tools they need to be successful reader.
I not only want to to be able to read, but to be able to spell, and enjoy the process. Reading is so important, and I want them to feel confident in their abilities when they leave my classroom.
