I love that my students work hard to stay focused and not allow life's problems to hold them back. Approximately 90% are from a disadvantaged area and qualify for free breakfast and lunch. That being said, most realize the benefit of a great education, but do not have much support at home. I try to be their support. They are excited to come to class each day to learn Spanish.
I love when they walk in and ask, "What are we going to learn today?" So, I continually look for ways to stay relevant and engaging to my students.
They work hard and they deserve the best I can give them. We are a small school and I will have the students for three or up to four years in my Spanish classes. We build solid relationships and we don't want to let each other down. They give me their best and I want them to always have the best while they are at my school and especially in my classroom.
My students work in teams/groups to practice Spanish. I love how they support and encourage each other. They know we are in this together.
My Project
My students have worked hard to achieve the Spanish level they are currently at.
By obtaining a subscription to these magazines, my students will be able to read articles in Spanish that will be geared to their level and interests through the Scholastic "Ahora" magazine and will see the payoff of their efforts with their Spanish language studies
Once they see their success reading the first issue, they will have increased motivation to continue on and look forward not only to coming to class each day to learn to speak a new language, but to be able to read current articles successfully.
