This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book online? Well, most of my students have never experienced this awesome event.
My students are inner city kids from low income neighborhoods.
Although they lack the finances to purchase nice electronic equipment and other needed resources they are still well ahead of their peers. Here we provide the necessary resources needed to succeed academically. We are a public charter school and we try our best to make up for most things that our students lack at home.
My Project
I am seeking 5 e-Readers (nooks) for my interactive classroom library. My goal is to spark my students interest in books and reading by making my library fun and exciting. My students love technology. I believe that having these electronic devices in the classroom will make more of them visit the library and actually read more books.
This project will increase my students love for reading.
There is a huge gap in reading with inner city students. One of the reasons is a lack of access to great books. By purchasing these e-Readers I will be able to close that gap in a fun way.
