They also use cubes to model addition and subtraction by combining and breaking apart sets, making these operations more concrete and easier to understand .\r\n\r\nCounters have supported my students in similar ways by helping them visualize math problems. When solving story problems, students can move counters to represent \"adding to\" or \"taking away,\" which helps them make sense of what is happening in the problem. This hands-on approach also builds problem-solving skills and confidence, as students can check their work by physically manipulating the objects.\r\n\r\nBeyond math skills, these tools also improve fine motor development and encourage collaboration. Students work together to build, sort, and create patterns, which strengthens communication and teamwork.
