My students need bean bag chairs in order to be comfortable while they read. In addition, I want to grasp my students attention by having a read aloud text that we can all read together.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever curled up to a good book in a space where your mind could dream? My students are seeking a space such as this. For some of my students, having the ability to read actively in an inviting and calm space at home can be very challenging. To better help my students, I want to create an inviting and calm space where they want to go each and everyday to read a good book.
Reading is a way to capture the mind of a child and engage them in another world or story from the past.
My students are caring, adventurous, and curious about the world around them. My goal as a teacher, is to continue helping them pursue their curiosities.
My Project
A library is a critical part of a classroom. Students should want to go to the library and seek out new books, share their favorites with their peers, and find answers to their curiosities. As a teacher, I want my students to have a place such as this in our room. By utilizing bean bag chairs, organizational bins, and texts that are important to the students, I can further nurture the love of reading my students hold.
Reading is a way for us to come together as a class family.
Through the use of a read aloud where the students each have a copy of the text, I can model fluent reading and engage them in a fun and exciting text.
