My students need nonfiction comprehension folders and a research and respond comprehension center to increase the effectiveness of literacy stations in my classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
By the end of the school year, I want my students to be fluent readers and critical thinkers. As we progress towards these goals, we have to increase our comprehension levels.
My students live in a low economic community and attend a Title I school.
My students are a group of energetic boys and girls. They are inquisitive and eager to learn and explore everyday. They have developed a love for reading. They enjoy our daily read aloud. In addition, they are embracing nonfiction text.
My Project
Reading is an essential part of our day. It is through reading that my students are captivated by the world around them. With the Small Group Nonfiction Comprehension Folders for 3rd through 6th grade, I will be able to differentiate my instruction in centers. In addition, I will be able to enhance my research center with the Research and Respond Comprehension Center. My literacy centers will be more effective with the materials that I am requesting. These centers will aid in increasing my students' comprehension levels.
Reading is the gateway skill to all learning.
Increasing my students' comprehension levels will positively affect them in every content area. My classroom will be equipped with nonfiction texts that will interest my students and impact their learning.
