Help me give my students the ability to read books on their level in small groups. Due to being remote last year and being ESL students, some of my students have deficits in their reading levels.
My students are from many different cultures, races, backgrounds, and beliefs. They want to be able to complete work that will show off their abilities and talents. I teach in a Title I school with more than 75% of the students coming from low-income families. We have limited resources. I currently have 22 students and they need your support!
My Project
Reading is the foundation for all other subjects in school and in life. Being low in reading levels will cause students to struggle their entire life. Working in small groups and targeting these problem areas will help increase compression and reading ability.
These guided reading books will be used in small group work to allow the students to work on skills and strategies required to become skilled readers.
Many of my students are ENL learners. Focusing on these students will help them to succeed.
Having new engaging books that will hold the students interest will help to support their reading stamina, ability and comprehension.
