This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a founding teacher at a Title I school in Brooklyn. My students are just beginning their educational journey and are super enthusiastic about it. Everyday they come into school ready to explore and take in all I have to give. Each of my students are eager to learn and bring something unique to our classroom. I have English Language Learners, and some students who need a little more support than others. The extra supplies would really help enhance their learning opportunities.
My Project
In September, we started with the bare minimum and now we are thriving. Pre-K 1 has shown so much growth this school year, and I could not be prouder. The students have been exploring, learning, and communicating more each and every day. The school as a whole has come such a long way from our "grand opening" in September.
As an educator, I reflect on areas that need improvement and for my classroom, that happens to be in literacy.
We have a nice number of books in different genres that support their learning of the units but I want to go beyond that. I want to expand our library to have more books about holidays, important people, seasons, and other books that will gain their interest. Story books are the core to learning in a Pre-K classroom.
