This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a Special Education Resource Teacher and my students range from K-2nd grade. My students have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to address specific academic needs to support their learning.
My elementary school is a Title I school in Washington, DC with more than 70% of students eligible for free and reduced-price meals (FARM).
Many of our students have limited access to learning environments. Due to a full range of exposure to learning and students' unique learning styles, differentiated teaching is extensively used in our classrooms. Our students are a group of fun and amazing scholars ready for challenges!
My Project
Help me teach my students to learn to read. My students are 1st and 2nd-grade scholars who are ready to learn every single day. Due to many different reasons, they are performing at Pre-K to K level in ELA. We have limited resources and materials and it would be helpful to have more activities and games to reach all of my learners.
Reading is power.
Reading gives access to much broader ways of living and it's also directly related to learning as well. I wish to strengthen my classroom environment in order to reach all my learners.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
