Reading Is My Jam!

My Students

My students are great! Most families in our school are low-income and/or refugee families; we are a Title I school. Our families have been hard hit by the global pandemic. Many of my students are learning English in addition to reading, writing, math, and science!

My Project

These hands on tools will engage my students and keep them interested in learning to read. We have a huge gap in first grade because of the unpredictability of attending school due to COVID 19.

First grade in about being physically engaged in reading!

Reading activities help keep my student's attention on reading and solving reading 'puzzles'. Holding books, manipulating words and word strips, sorting words with the same vowel sound. All of these activities help my students to become stronger readers and prepare them for second grade. Reading also boots self-esteem.
