I teach first grade at a title one school. Most of my students have not experienced anything beyond their own back yards. I would like to teach them about the wonders of the world - animals, plants, nature, etc - through books, and teaching them they can go anywhere when they can read a book! I want them to know there is a great big wonderful world beyond where they are now and that learning will help them see it all.
