My Students

Most of the students in my school live at or below the poverty line. As an adult that grew up under similar circumstances, I've dedicated myself to the art of teaching and assisting kids in improving their situations with education.

My students come from diverse ethnic backgrounds and learning abilities.

Some may feel good when they've completed Mr. Lincoln's Way and will have the drive and curiosity to open and read one of the Serious of Unfortunate Events. Other students may open up chapter books and read for pleasure with little guidance. These students have improved greatly over the years at their elementary school and will continue to succeed with as much assistance as possible.

My Project

I've requested a multitude of books ranging from picture books by Patricia Polacco and Judy Blume to Lemony Snicket and Christopher Paul Curtis. Each of these authors bring a unique background and adventure through their books. These books will assist me in introducing my students to the many differences and the freedom of reading for not only learning, but enjoyment. My students need to know that people care and will assist them in obtaining their dreams. This is the first step to building our classroom library. They will take pride in knowing that people they do not know have assisted them in their learning by making our classroom library a rich one.

Your donations will give these children daily access to books that they may not see. These books will be respected, utilized and cared for in our classroom so that not only current students can use them, but other classes to come. While utilizing these books throughout this year, my students will not only increase their reading fluency, but their interest in reading.
