My students need as many ways to learn about the world as possible. They need books and atlases.

My Students

The students in my classroom come from the rural community nearby. Thus, even field trips are often not possible due to travel time. The poverty-level is high making travel within the family units difficult as well.

The students have witnessed natural disasters on television on various occasions and unfortunately were part of a tornado that destroyed our entire school with the exception of administrative offices.

We are getting a new physical building which is also consuming a great deal of resources that might otherwise be used to allow the children to see various educational places first hand. National Geographic has served to educate for many years and my students deserve to learn from the best.

My Project

My students, like most, prefer to learn through as much hands on projects as possible. As I mentioned, we do not have the resources to take numerous field trips to see even the simplest events. By having as many resources that will keep the students attention, we can assure that our students are getting the best education possible.

I have requested numerous edition of the National Geographic so that we can combine our learning in one area to take us as far as our imagination will allow us through the stories and the people inside the magazine.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
