Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are special because I have a variety of different students. First of all, I have English Language Learning in my classroom who I support, because they are currently learning the English Language. I also have special needs students in my classroom whom I include in all subject areas and constantly modify their work. Last, I have General Education Students whom I push to become better readers and writers. My students are special to me because I want them all to become problem solvers and succeed not only in my class but also in their future.
My Project
Students need reading supplies so they can use during centers. These reading materials will help build on my students reading comprehension, fluency, and accuracy. Students will also use these materials as a quiz. The teacher will pull out one student at a time and ask students comprehension questions about the text. Since, we don't have a set reading curriculum this would be a big push to help my students become successful readers. English Language Learners need to be exposed to different types of text because as a teacher I need to build their vocabulary. Pictures and reading different types of passages will help students because they will be exposed to different types of text such as fiction and nonfiction. Being exposed to different text will give students a better understanding of whats happening around the world and they will love reading. Books are the key to success and they need to be exposed to them to help them learn to read. These materials will be used on a daily basis and I know it will make a difference!
