My students need 25 books to add to our classroom library. These books will be used to improve literacy. My students will enjoy having more books readily available.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students coming into second grade are like sponges! They enjoy school and are eager to learn. Second grade is where they will increase in fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar. The number of books in our classroom library is limited. My students will be so excited to have more books!
My students are second graders.
Most of them come from low income families and have very limited resources at home. My school provides a safe, family-friendly atmosphere to make all feel welcome. We strive to make our school and classrooms inviting to the students so that they will feel secure.
My Project
Our classroom library has a limited number of books. The students at this age are eager to learn and love to read. Having more interesting books in the classroom will help them to continue to enjoy reading. Second grade is the year when fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and grammar are key in establishing a firm foundation in reading. By the end of second grade they will be able to fluently read at least ninety words per minute.
Donations to this project will improve my classroom by keeping my students reading.
Through these books, they will increase in fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. As they increase in these key areas, they will excel in all subject areas.
