Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Bilingual Kindergarten is such an amazing group to be a part of. I have 15 kids with a wide range of skills set. We have kids who are almost reading independently, to some who are just learning how to use scissors. However, it is those individual skill sets, among many other wonderful things, that make them the incredible bunch they are. All of my students were unfortunately made victims by Hurricane Harvey last Fall, which caused a great deal of stress on our community. Despite the adversity, my students push to work hard and do their best every day. My classroom is full of hard-working, loving, Spanish speaking students.
My Project
Reading is such an important part of any child's life. Showing my kids the importance of reading starts at the beginning: letter sounds and syllables.
I want to help my kids understand not only how important reading is, but how fun it can be as well.
With the Spanish Syllable Pocket Chart, I can offer my kid's a hands-on, fun way to learn/practice their syllables during center rotations as well as during small group. The follow-the-dot letter stamps, will help give my kids, who need a little bit of help forming their letters, an extra push to help them write.
The laminating machine as well as the laminating sheets, will allow me to laminate material for them, so that it lasts longer for them to be able to use. Please help me show to my students how fun reading can be!
