Mrs. Reeves from Tampa FL is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need popular books for elementary students in grades 2-5 to help improve their reading skills, and to instill a life-long love of reading and learning.

My students love coming to the media center! I wish we had more than one copy of the popular titles, so I did not always have to say "That's checked out", or "I need to repair that because it's falling apart." They love reading, but there just aren't enough copies of the popular books to go around.
My school is an urban, high-needs school.
At least 96% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. For many of the students, their only real access to books is in our school media center. The public library is too far away and there are no book stores in the area. They are amazing children, who are eager to read and learn. Their faces just light up when they come to check out books.
I wish I did not have to so frequently tell my students that certain books are not available because we only have one copy of that title, or it's in need of repair, or we only have a few titles in a book series. By having more of the popular titles available in the media center, students will continue to be excited about checking out books and reading. For students who struggle with reading, or who do not enjoy it as much, the popular titles might be just what they need to get excited about reading. I have had many students tell me that they can't wait to get to the reading level where they can read The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. How disappointing for them to get to that level and not have the books available in their media center.
I want to put books in the students' hands.
I want them to read and to have fun doing so. I want them to have access to the books that are so popular for kids their age. I believe that by making reading fun, the students will not only become better readers, but they will develop a life-long love of books and learning and this love will be passed down for generations.
