My Students

My third graders love to read, explore, and create. They are truly excited about coming to school and hands-on learning. These students are curious about the world, how things work, and love to learn all they can about new topics. They enjoy engaging in learning experiences that spark their imagination.

My students are smart, funny, kind, compassionate, and have a real love to learn and explore.

I love seeing them grow in knowledge and in character as they learn more about the world around them.

They learn how to persevere through some of the deepest and darkest personal circumstances, all while working hard in class. I have great admiration for my students and feel so blessed to help contribute to their little lives, even if it's just a year at a time.

My Project

Literacy skills are many times taught in guided reading groups. Guided reading is a research-based approach to teaching reading, which is an essential part of a balanced and comprehensive literacy program. This small group reading instruction is designed to provide differentiated teaching to a broad range of learners in a classroom

Not only does it model good reading habits for readers; it also teaches better reading comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency skills as readers progress through the process of learning to read and then reading to learn.

Best practice allows for guided reading groups to consist of five readers in a group.
