My Students

I have a classroom of 30 students from mostly low socioeconomic backgrounds. All students in my building receive free lunches. We are located in Jacksonville, Illinois.

They need positive vibes all day long!

Even in the restrooms! School is where many of them get the "warm and fuzzies"- hot meals, smiles, hugs and a positive atmosphere. School is their safe place and I often worry about them when we are on breaks and weekends.

I would like to take advantage of unused space to motivate and inspire these kids, who may only get that at school. I want them to know they are important no matter what part of the building they are in!

My Project

I would like to take advantage of the magnetic restroom stalls at my school. Adding an inspirational quote to the inside of each stall not only can serve as a reading tool, but also as a positive lesson for the kids.

Why not use that space to tell them they can do anything they want in life and that hard work pays off?

I plan to change the papers/posters every 2 weeks in each stall of the boys' and girls' restrooms. I think I'll add some jokes here and there too:) Who says you can't read while in the bathroom?
