My Students

My kindergarten class is in a rapidly growing part of Northeast Florida. I have 18 children in the class that works closely with the special education and speech teacher. The children, while only 5 and 6 years old, are learning to develop a great love of learning, which I hope will last a lifetime.

The children are enthusiastic and excited to learn all they can through lots of hands on activities and centers.

The materials donated through Donors Choose will be used to help reach our long term learning goals in both academics and technology.

My Project

Our classroom currently has hard plastic chairs for the book corner and iPad centers. These are uncomfortable and not a place to encourage independent reading time, nor for using an iPad for a while.

By having the soft, comfortable Floor Seats and Soft Seat cushions, the children will have a warm, inviting place to go for reading and using iPads.

It is my hope that a colorful, child-friendly, comfortable seating space will help foster positive feelings about reading. The children are also required to use the iPads for seventy minutes per week for math and reading, which means they need a very comfortable spot to sit.
