Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school. My school tries their best to provide the resources our students need to succeed. Needless to say, the funds always fall short and teachers have to get creative with what they have.

My students are very hard working and eager to learn.

They take great interest in learning about life outside their community and are constantly asking questions. A majority of my students are English learners and are eligible for free lunch program.

My Project

Within my classroom, I have a variety of readers of all ability levels. This year, I am also lucky to have students who speak and read Spanish. Unfortunately, I do not have Spanish books to support these students in their growth as readers in Spanish.

All students deserve the opportunity to both read and grow as students while staying true to their culture.

I hope to provide books in Spanish so students can read both in school and at home and enjoy the same rich literacy experiences that English speaking students are able to enjoy. Thank you for considering our project!
