My Students
My students are a diverse group of kids living in Brooklyn, NY that strive to succeed. They speak many different languages and come from various cultures and countries, some even new to the country just learning the language. This year I will be teaching in an integrated learning classroom, which means there will be two teachers and half the class will be special education students and the other half are general education students. We will also have many students that are new to the country and just learning english. They all come from various socioeconomic backgrounds, but most come from low income households. My students range in all levels of learning. My school is a wonderful community of different learners that all work together to do their best. My students are always eager to come to school and learn new things, even in this new world of education. Keeping them safe and educated is my biggest concern.
My Project
This school year has been far from a normal year. My students find comfort in being able to walk in my classroom when we are in person and book shop. We need more high interest books with multi cultural main characters and settings.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
Pease help me build our classroom library to give them what they need to be life long readers. Watching their faces light up at new books, makes all the difference.
More than half of students from low‑income households
