Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our third grade classroom, we celebrate each other's differences, including our strengths and weaknesses. We come from different backgrounds, types of families, and socioeconomic situations. Some of us speak English, some speak Spanish, and some speak Vietnamese. Our classroom is also an "inclusion classroom," which means that some of our kiddos are students with autism, speech disorders, or have other learning difficulties.

The thing that unites this sweet bunch of students is a love of learning, which I believe is the goal of education: to make lifelong learners.

These third graders are some of the most genuine little humans, and I want to foster the down-to-earth, fun-loving, and caring spirit that permeates our classroom and gets us all excited to learn.

My Project

This year, I decided to fill my classroom with holiday books for each season: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. My students' have been LOVING it, and these books fly off the shelves of our classroom library faster than any others. I'm amazed at how easy it has been to encourage more reading in my classroom!

Students love to read holiday books, so I want to engage my learners and encourage them to read more by including some Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day books in our classroom library!
