This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many students struggle with basic reading skills as well as social emotional competencies such as emotion expression, empathy, self control and positive communication. Social emotional themed books provide meaningful contexts that help students improve literacy while developing emotional awareness and social skills. This project aims to Improve reading ability and social emotional literacy through reading of age appropriate SEL books.

Each book helps students identify, understand and express emotions appropriately.

If students have social emotional skills it can improve their classroom learning.

My students are special because they are unique individuals with their own strengths, experiences, emotions and ways of learning. With appropriate literacy and social emotional support, they can develop strong reading skills, self confidence and positive relationships that will shape their future success.
