This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 5th-grade students are part of the dual immersion program. This is the year my students are learning remotely from home and they have encountered many challenges connecting online due to poor internet connections. Our school is a Title 1 school ranging from TK to 5th grade with a wide diverse population of students. Many of our families come from low socioeconomic status. Providing physical materials has been a challenge to offer our students. Having a book in hand will be a huge help.

My Project

My students have been learning remotely from home all year long. Reading books in Spanish has been a challenge in remote learning as libraries are closed and online literature is very limited online.

Having a book in their hand will be very special as they will be able to read along with their classmates and their teacher.

Reading books engages my students to learn and motivates them to attend class everyday. Reading stories that interest my students will not only foster their reading skills but will learn to appreciate reading.
