The succulents, pots, soil, and plant food allowed each student to plant and care for their very own living plant. Instead of sharing materials or observing from a distance, every child now has ownership of a succulent they planted with their own hands.\r\n\r\nOne unforgettable moment happened during our first planting session. As students carefully filled their pots with soil and gently placed their succulents inside, the room became calm and focused. One student said, \"This is my responsibility now,\" while another carefully explained to a peer why succulents do not need too much water. The pride on their faces was immediate. Students were deeply engaged, asking questions about roots, leaves, and how different species store water. What could have been a simple activity turned into a rich science lesson filled with curiosity and collaboration.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were thrilled. They gathered around the table, excited to choose their pots and examine the different types of succulents. Many shared that they had never owned a plant before. For some, this was their very first experience planting something independently.\r\n\r\nYour support has given my students more than gardening supplies. It has given them ownership, confidence, teamwork skills, and the joy of nurturing something living. The new soil allowed us to prepare additional planting beds, giving every student the opportunity to participate in the full planting process from start to finish. Rather than observing from the sidelines, each child now has a hands-on role in planting seeds, covering them with soil, watering them, and monitoring their growth.\r\n\r\nWhen the soil first arrived, students were genuinely excited. Several asked if we could begin planting immediately. They understood that this was not just dirt, but an opportunity. Many expressed pride knowing that donors believed in their learning and invested in their classroom.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue integrating the garden into our science and math units by tracking growth data, comparing plant conditions, and studying life cycles. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has done more than expand our garden beds. The watering cans you provided are now part of our daily routine, and they have given my students a true sense of ownership and responsibility over our learning space.\r\n\r\nEach morning, students take turns carefully filling their watering cans and tending to our garden beds and classroom plants. One moment that stood out was when a student gently reminded a classmate, \"Remember, the roots need water, not the leaves,\" explaining it in both English and Spanish. It was a powerful example of academic language development happening naturally through hands-on experience. Students are using vocabulary such as raÃz, tallo, stem, soil, and ciclo de vida as they observe changes in their plants and document growth in their garden journals.\r\n\r\nWhen the watering cans first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students gathered around, eager to choose one and begin helping. Many commented on the different sizes and colors, and several asked if they could start watering right away. What seemed like a simple tool quickly became a symbol of responsibility and pride.\r\n\r\nThe next steps in our learning include tracking plant growth measurements in math, writing bilingual reflections about the life cycle of our plants, and connecting our garden studies to lessons on sustainability and environmental stewardship. Students will also present what they have learned about caring for living things during an upcoming bilingual showcase.\r\n\r\nYour support has done more than provide materials.
