My Students

With our new common core curriculum, teachers are working hard to meet the standards with very little materials. I am hoping that with the requested materials, it might be a little easier to help students increase and meet the new rigor found in the Common Core.

I teach in a rural school with 78% free reduced lunch.

Many of our students are struggling readers which affects all other subject areas. It is a constant struggle to help our students improve their skills. Many students have difficult home lives with working parents who can't support their education as they would like. We try to make up for that in our school and in my classroom.

My Project

The resources requested will allow students to read and learn new vocabulary daily. It will also give me resources to use in small group settings to reinforce new or previously learned skills. Students will be able to use the nonfiction readers and vocabulary centers to help them grow as readers.

My project is important in order to give our students all the practice and prior knowledge we can.

It is necessary for them to be able to read, but we now are expecting even more out of them. The items requested will help our students gain the knowledge needed to be successful.
