Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love working with my 5th graders! They are also so loving and kind. Most students like to stay in at recess because it’s cold out and I like to have them in creating time to get to know them and work with them one on one. I have a group of students that want to be successful but struggle at times. Even the ones that have some behavior problems have been flourishing in 5th grade and I am so excited to prepare them for middle school.
My Project
Currently we have no place where there is carpeting for students to sit on the floor and read or work in groups. I work in a low income school with 100% free or reduced lunch. I want an area in class that students can hang out in during recess or in small group time reading chapter books. I love to create an environment that is welcoming to students and feels like a place they want to be. This space would be for students during the academic activities, during recess time and during my after school program! I want to show my students how much I care about them by providing a great space for them!
