Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students shock me every day with how special and smart they are! They are like sponges and amaze me when they can remember difficult terms and topics from months ago. Most of them come from economically disadvantaged homes and receive free and reduced price lunch.

Much of my salary goes toward buying supplies, books, videos, and rewards for them.

As a teacher who moved from teaching middle school to elementary school this year, I am starting from scratch, trying to build my classroom into the most stimulating, wonderful place that the kids can imagine. I would like to purchase supplies and games for them to enhance the curriculum that I teach. These activities would supplement my lessons and allow the children to practice these new skills in a fun way during Centers and Guided Reading time. Unfortunately, budget restrictions forced me to cut these activities and games from my order for more "essential" items, but that's where you come in! All of the donation money received will go directly to helping these children enjoy a school experience that they may not have otherwise. Thank you so much for any support you can offer!

My Project

These games, activities, and supplies will help my students immeasurably! Many of them enter 2nd grade below grade level, so these activities will boost their knowledge in both reading comprehension and Math skills.

Time is set aside daily for Guided Reading, Language Arts centers, and Math skills practice; these games and activities will ensure that my students are practicing the skills taught during whole group time with the rigor and intensity needed to achieve the standards covered in the common core.

Donations toward this project will enable the students to participate in richer learning experiences while having fun! I'm in the process of building a second grade classroom that will hopefully change these students' lives and purchasing these games, supplies, and activities will enable me to do that!
