Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are incredible and resilient. They are constantly teaching me more about how to be a better learner and teacher. They deserve every opportunity to learn and thrive. I work at a Title 1 school serving a diverse population. Although some of my students face challenges, they are ready to learn each day they come to school.
Not all of them have access to reading materials at home so I want to ensure they get the most out of literacy at school.
My Project
The kids in my class do not always have access to reading materials at their level. This project would allow them to have books at their level to build their reading skills and help instill a love of reading. Not only do I want to create readers, I want to create lifelong learners.
These books have a mix of nonfiction and fiction allowing kids to be exposed to many different types of text.
I know the addition of these book collections will enhance the reading experience for each of my kids! Watching a child feel successful when reading is one of my favorite parts of my job. I want to give each of my kids the opportunity to be successful in reading, and in life.
