This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are committed to going to college! To help them get there, I want to provide them with fun learning activities that develop their language skills. The activities will be useful for children who need additional practice or for children who need enrichment.
The scholars I teach are resilient and strong.
They attend a charter school in Louisiana and come from families with low incomes. Although they face many obstacles in their communities such as violence, poverty, and crime, they are not defined by these issues. Because of a failing school system and a natural disaster, many are significantly behind academically. The children now attend a school committed to educating them in a safe, nurturing environment. Families, staff, and scholars stand together in our commitment to educate scholars for success in college and life.
My Project
With the resources I have requested, my scholars and I will be able to play learning games to practice vocabulary and comprehension skills. This year, my scholars will take the fourth grade LEAP test. We will work very hard to prepare for these difficult assessments. One way I hope to practice is through games that are fun but also educational. The resources will also be used to differentiate instruction - children who finish work early will have the opportunity to use the activities and I will also use them with small groups of scholars needing additional practice.
Donations to this project will make a difference in our classroom.
We will be able to play games to practice skills. The activities will also help scholars learn to work in a team and use skills to get along with others. Not only will scholars develop academic skills, they will also develop important social skills.
