Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our elementary school is located in the inner-city of Phoenix, Arizona. Our school focuses on academic excellence. I currently have 16 students. My students are my heart. It is my goal to gain access to appropriate learning tools for my students growth! Only 6 of my students are reading near or at grade level. My students in need do not get support at home so classroom time is crucial for growth.

Our current need is all things reading!

Although I do have ELA curriculum for my students we need more tools to help reach students who are struggling in reading.

Our school focuses on academic excellence and in order to achieve this focus we need to start at the basics with laying a firm reading foundation for our kiddos.

My Project

These materials will help students who are struggling with reading by bringing the materials to their level. They bring color and excitement to a subject that may be boring or hard for them to grasp. All materials can be used in small group, center time, or intervention! I love the idea of using the Touch & Read Blends & Digraph Match from Lakeshore to help promote fluency in those challenging CCVC/CVCC words!

Visual, hands-on learning centers and games will help students gain confidence in reading while having FUN!

The materials are all chosen from Lakeshore and are specifically to help my students decode words with digraphs, blends, long vowels, and comprehension. I chose letter tiles to help my students blend words together using the phonics skills they already have to gain confidence in their reading!
