My Students

This year, more than ever, students are having difficulty learning to read and write, and my students, all of whom were struggling before the pandemic, have fallen further behind. My students come to the resource room because they are two or more years behind and need specialized instruction and support to learn.

My Project

The whiteboards, magnets and tape will be used to build our own Elkonin boxes to provide students interactive activities to map sounds in words leading to reading and writing words. Research shows that phonemic awareness proficiency is essential for learning to read and these supplies will help my students, and students to come, develop these essential skills.

So many of my students missed handwriting instruction and have phonemic awareness deficits, and these supplies will help my students make-up for missed learning.

The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of phonological awareness and writing.
