My Project

My students love to come to the library and find a book they can read and treasure. Each year, the state of South Carolina publishes a list of the top 20 children's books of the year. It is always a comprehensive list with top-notch books in a large variety of genres. We do many reading challenges at our school with these books, and my students have come to share in the excitement of reading the books on this list. While a committee reads hundreds of books to put the list together each year, it is the students in SC who vote for the winner. This is a big deal at our school! Students learn the power and importance of voting even while they learn to fall in love with reading a good book.

Our library needs additional copies of many of these books so that our students can read and vote on their favorite award-nominee titles.

Stephen King once said that "books are uniquely portable magic" and I share this magical joy of reading with my students every day. I can't wait for them to find the magic and joy in this year's award nominees. Thank you for helping provide my students with these award-winning titles.
