Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have recently transferred mid-year to a school in Texas that is very different from anything I have ever experienced. The students are underprivileged and face all types of struggles. Despite the challenges they face day in and day out, they are an amazing group of kids. They have a desire to learn and meet the challenges I give them. Their love for small group and station learning is amazing and I desperately want to help them grow in a way that they love and enjoy.
My Project
Students will have more options for activities to build their knowledge of reading and literacy skills! The activities are genuine and purposeful, and they won't waste the student's time. They are simple enough for students to do with a small group, even if they are struggling readers! The comprehension stations will create valuable learning opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of what they read. Vocabulary skills, which are a huge need for these students, will encourage them to build their own vocabulary, which will help them throughout life.
During small group time, students will rotate from station to station and work with the new centers to gain deeper understanding of comprehension, vocabulary, and phonics!
I have asked for several small group station activities that are learning games and activities. There are matching puzzles, literacy games, phonemic awareness activities,
