it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students love to learn, love to read and especially love listening to reading. Interactive read-alouds from literature written by popular authors are a big part of our day. Interactive read alouds differ from traditional read alouds in that students are actively engaged in the text. They not only listen to the story, but, we also stop at predetermined places to discuss what we have read and talk about different skills. I use interactive read alouds to teach a variety of subjects, including reading, grammar, social emotional learning, and social studies.
Reading is a key skills students need to learn.
It is so important to foster their ability and to get them hooked at a young age. As their teacher I need to provide them with as many positive reading experiences as I can while I have them in my care.
I want to provide my 2nd graders with as many opportunities to become enthralled with books as possible.
Most are just beginning to read chapter books and it is important to have many options for them to choose from and become interested in reading. Reading is a skill that needs to be practiced every day. I plan to have my students listening to read-alouds as a class and becoming engrossed in a love of reading!
I am asking for donations to purchase chapter books for the students to start reading. I choose the first few books for many different series. The purpose is to provide choice but then also let them move right to the second book if they like the first. These chapter books and read-alouds will capture my students' imaginations and help them develop a love of stories and books!
