Hi, I teach an amazing group of 4th graders. I teach in a title one school with a high level of free and reduced lunch students. My students lack world experiences. Most have very little opportunity for travel. I feel that it is important for them to have a better understanding of their country and the world around them.
This year I would like to have a class set of novels to work with my students towards their reading comprehension goals.
I would like to have additional books to enhance the classroom library.
My Project
My students love to read novels. Learning about life in the past helps keep our history alive while the students enjoy reading. Each quarter we begin a new novel study. This year there were not enough novels to provide the students with a copy of their own. Having their own book to hold gives them ownership in their learning. I love to challenge my students with books they have never read before. Historical fiction I feel helps them learn about our countries past while enjoying the novel they are reading. Please help my students have their own book to read and cherish.
