Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The world that we live in today is fast-paced and filled with complex situations that are difficult for adolescents to understand.

My students are eleven- and twelve-year-olds, with a new awareness of the world that they live in.

Some of them come from well-educated backgrounds, while others come from families that are focused more on survival than enrichment. That's where we come in as a school - to provide the environment necessary for all students to thrive.

My Project

I want to provide them with current and age-appropriate non-fiction reading practice through a magazine subscription to Time for Kids. Through access and exposure to the world going on around them, my students will then be able to engage more fully with their communities and each other.

All students should have access to non-fiction text that is interesting and relevant.

They should also be given the opportunity to discover what is happening outside of their own environments, and this magazine subscription will make all of that possible for them.
