This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are 1st graders and 3rd graders. I am a Reading Recovery Teacher so, I “pull-out” 1st graders who need one-on-one reading instruction but don’t qualify for Special Education. This intervention lasts for 20 weeks and our goal is to offer intense instruction that will allow our children to catch up to their peers and then self-extend. My 3rd graders are receiving Leveled Literacy Instruction as an intervention to get them “on-track” in reading so that they’re prepared for the intense demands of 4th grade!
My Project
iPads in our learning space will serve many purposes , elevating learning and confidence on many levels. My students will use apps such as “Book Creator” to create original pieces. They will use the iPads to do research and program stop-motion “readers theater”. Some students may also choose to code stories and poems. We’ll use a “green screen “ app to create news stories to prepare for public speaking. All projects will be saved and presented to students, parents and other members of our community at the end of each semester. We will extend this project by teaching others to create iPad projects of their own!
