Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bilingual first graders living in a very low social economic environment. Many of them live in rough area apartments. These students' parents are recent immigrants not knowing what it takes for their children to succeed in the U.S. with little or no education. Reading is extremely important for a student's success in their academics and life. Our school does not provide books for the reading centers. Our library has limited books specially non-fiction Spanish and English books.

My Project

These non-fiction books that include many motivating subjects like animals, important leaders, healthy eating, careers, mathematics, the Earth, the moon, the forest and so much more will enhance my student's minds with rich vocabulary and information. Students will have many opportunities to keep learning their objective after it is presented. Since most of my students are already above their reading level it is very important to provide higher-leveled non-fiction books readily available to them. These books are very versatile as they can be used with so many objectives not just in reading but in writing, science, social studies and math.
