My Project

Our 3rd and 4th graders are headed into a #Readers are Leaders challenge. Our mission for Spring 2023 is to cultivate a deep love of literacy, encouraging every student to identify as a reader. This all begins with a good book and we are requesting your help to stock our classroom libraries!

A good book is invaluable.

In order to become avid readers, students need to be presented with quality books and time to read them. Having a well stocked classroom library allows students to be surrounded by books on a regular basis, explore them at a moment's notice, have book talks with classmates and teachers, and find new books to get lost in.

While our school implements a literacy rich, culturally relevant, and rigorous ELA curriculum, we also know that reading for pleasure is just as important in a child’s reading development. Our school is building a culture of reading and it starts with listening to student interests and providing a selection of high-interest options.
