Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keeping things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences, as well as an inviting learning environment.
My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future.
From the minute my students walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Dr. Seuss said it best, "the more that you read, the more you will know". The more that my students are able to read and learn, the more places they will be able to go. My students need high interest fiction and nonfiction books that will help me continue to foster a love of reading. With the high interest books I have requested, my students will have more books to choose from for their independent reading at school and at home.
Your donations will make it possible for my students to get even more excited about reading then they already do!
These high interest books will allow students to take adventures and fall in love with reading, right in the middle of a school day!
