This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom.
My students are an amazing group of third graders who are eager to learn and explore.
They are living a growth-mindset philosophy, embracing the new learning experiences and challenges and are ready to stretch and grow their brain muscles. Children are like sponges, ready to soak up everything. It is my pleasure and duty to help shape their precious minds to love learning and be successful.
My Project
I have a wonderful group of students that are bilingual, however, at home the primary language is Spanish. I want to help empower both students and parents through the use of Spanish picture and chapter books.
Every parent wants to be able to support their child's learning through reading.
With the use of these books, students will be able to read and discuss high interest leveled books with their families. We will be eliminating the barrier that language can often bring. Families can easily be able to engage their students and build a stronger bond.
I am certain that this will help to further ignite the passion and love for reading for my students.
