Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Despite many obstacles, my 4th-grade students are life-loving and eager to grow in their reading skills. All of the children receive free lunch and come from a rural, low income, farming community.
Most of my student started school not knowing English and have grown by leaps and bounds, learning how to speak and write in English.
I currently have 20% of my class reading below their grade level. My students are resilient and are excited about learning and growing in their reading and mathematical skills.
My Project
Big Joe chairs will bring the basic comforts of home into my classroom. I want to provide that space for my students in my classroom because some lack this space at home. Big Joe chairs would make my classroom into a home. This space will allow my students to get comfy and enjoy reading, making learning to read a positive experience. My students are individuals that learn at different paces and different ways. Having different reading spots in my room will allow me to reach to those needs of my students. This will allow my classroom to become a comfortable, fun and loving place that my students can enjoy and grow in their reading skills.
