This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have many struggles, inside the classroom and out. The majority of my students come from low socioeconomic status households and many students have experienced quite a bit of trauma even before entering Kindergarten.
They deserve to have a safe, student-focused classroom where they are encouraged to learn at a developmentally appropriate level and allow their creativity to shine!
They also need to be able to develop social and emotional skills to help them become successful in the classroom and in society.
My Project
I have requested audiobooks and snacks for my students. Our school is a title 1 school, with 100% of students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
Many of them come in tired, hungry, emotional, and unable to focus.
My students are eager to learn, but often lack basic needs to be fully engaged. Because of this, students are given an opportunity to have a snack throughout the day to keep them energized, focused, and their bellies full!
The addition of an audio library for our classroom will help not only students' reading skills, but student engagement! And of course a daily snack to help give them a boost!
