I have requested a light table with manipulatives and sensory beads for my Kindergarteners. This light table will give my students the opportunity to learn in a variety of ways. The light table and manipulatives will also help those students who may have difficulty with focusing or who could benefit from sensory play. Young students need to be engaged in play and exploration while learning important skills to be successful in school. A light table can provide my students with opportunities to enhance skills such as counting, identifying numerals, patterning, spatial reasoning, creating shapes and describing their attributes, adding, subtracting, letter knowledge, phonemic awareness, and can allow for multi-sensory instruction to take place.
