My Students

I teach in an elementary school that is part of a large school district. My students struggle with reading skills and reading interest since the pandemic. I would like to order books that are on or below grade level supporting the Battle of the Books to help increase reading skills. I would also like to order TIME magazine for 6-8 grade to increase reading interest.

BOB novels and Time will lesson the gap.

BOB books are simple enough for all students to have reading success. Students are provided with many opportunities to discuss what they are reading in small groups, large groups, and with partners. The more BOB books and TIME articles available for students, the greater the excitement for reading and if we are asked to go home, the books can go with them and TIME is online.

Novels and Time Magazine's can all be read from home!

I'd like the novels because it supports our Battle of the Books program. Students at Foothills have not been able to participate in this PTA sponsored program because of Covid. I want my students to once again get excited to read by using the BOB program and novels for motivation.

The novels are on grade level or below. This is important because it will allow all students to have success. The Time Magazine called "Edge" will support the interest of the higher students. I want all levels of reading provided for in my class.

The Time Magazines are full of non-fiction reading wheras all of the novels are fiction. I want to guide the students, once again, to reading both types of genres because my students have lost their interest in reading due to the pandemic.
