Read on! We need a Fathom Reads subscription for MLLs. My K-2 MLLs have a passion for reading and all of them have devices to do schoolwork, but they do not have an app that helps them keep reading at school, and at home, in a format that is more appealing to them. I want to continue to provide my students with more effective, and fun, educational resources to help them reach their language goals by using specific technology applied to education that is appealing for them. Helping us pay for the subscription to Fathom Reads will enable my students to reinforce their language skills, continue seamlessly their transition at home with their reading goals, and they will enjoy reading books they like and can choose. This skill will help progress more swiftly in the acquisition of their second language at the same time as they create the healthy habit of reading for pleasure and instruction.
I teach ELLs at a public elementary school in Greensboro, NC.
My school is a Title I school with a diverse population of students and families from all over the globe. My students' skills and needs are as diverse and amazing as the languages and stories they share with their friends at school. Most of them are new arrivals in our country and need a lot of support from everybody, a festive and friendly environment, meaningful input, and valuable resources to make positive progress in their adaptation to their new school, neighborhood, and reality.
