My students are from a low-income school district that face many challenges every day in and out of the classroom. They face those challenges with a positive attitude and always willing to learn and try something new. With that I want to be able to have my students know that school is a safe learning place that offers a variety of different learning opportunities. As an anonymous author stated, "All children can learn just not on the same day or the same way." I want to help my students learn their potential to be successful.
Students in my classroom have learning and emotional disabilities, but come to school with a smile each day ready to learn as if it is the first day all over again.
Due to low socioeconomic status, all students in the school get free breakfast and lunch every day. My students may have struggles but I know that in my classroom they are #1 and will be taught as such!
My students are readers who love to explore in books. Books on CDs are a great way for my students to continue their passion for reading. Many of my students can use books on CDs to help with their communication and build on vocabulary knowledge. My students will use these books in the reading center during centers. They will be able to choose a book they love or experience a new book to fall in love with.
With these books on CDs, my students can be independent and fall in love with books all over again!
My ESE Pre-K class loves to learn as much as they can. With some of my students being non-verbal, these books on CDs can offer meaning behind the words they want to use. Many times my students are wanting to have books read to them constantly and the books on CDs will help them be independent to read alone knowing they have someone reading to them.
